Master Clear Salt System
We Didn’t Want a Salt System. We Wanted a Better One.
Saltwater technology isn’t new to hot tubs. Master Clear is MasterSpas’ answer to why so much of it wasn’t worth recommending — and it’s the first saltwater system we’re excited to show you at our Shakopee, St. Louis Park and Woodbury showrooms.
Saltwater, Reengineered
An accessory we’re actually excited to recommend
For years, saltwater systems showed up on spa order forms because customers asked for them, not because dealers were excited about what they did. Softer water and less manual chlorine were real advantages — but they came with real compromises. Too much salt accelerates corrosion, and a system that generates chlorine on a fixed schedule doesn’t know or care how much your spa got used that week.
Master Clear was engineered around those specific problems. Instead of bolting on a generic salt generator and calling it a feature, MasterSpas built a system around the ownership experience. It watches the water instead of running on a timer.
It’s the first saltwater system we’ve felt good about putting in front of you.
Less Salt, Less Guesswork
Engineered to run at a lower salinity
Higher salinity can mean faster corrosion around heaters and other components. Master Clear delivers the feel of saltwater at a meaningfully lower concentration — and only generates chlorine when it’s needed, reducing wear on your spa.
A typical saltwater spa
1,750–2,200
parts per million of salt
Master Clear
~1,200
parts per million of salt
How It Works
Engineering you don’t have to think about
The Smart Cell
Living in the filter well, the Smart Cell tests the water and generates sanitizer on its own. It runs more when the spa sees more use and backs off when it doesn’t. Replace it once a year — disconnect the wire, lift it out, drop in the new one (a built-in magnet holds it in place). No separate cartridges or generators to manage.
Your Water, On Your Phone
The Master Clear app connects to your spa so you can check salt and sanitizer levels, monitor Smart Cell life and make adjustments from your phone — instead of guessing or reaching for a test strip every time.
Water That Feels Like Water
Softer on skin and eyes, with less of the chemical smell people associate with a traditionally maintained hot tub. You’ll still keep an eye on basics like pH — no system removes that — but Master Clear handles the sanitizer side automatically.
Saltwater vs. Traditional
How Master Clear compares to traditional chlorine
Ease of Maintenance
Saltwater generates chlorine for you, so there’s far less hands-on measuring and dosing. Traditional systems need more frequent manual adjustments.
Water Feel
Saltwater feels softer and silkier and is less likely to irritate skin and eyes. Traditional chlorine can feel harsher, especially when it’s over-dosed.
Upfront Cost
A salt system adds to the initial price, but fewer packaged chemicals over time can help offset the investment. Ask us for a side-by-side quote.
Fewer Chemicals
Because chlorine is produced on demand, you’ll buy and store fewer packaged sanitizers — less waste and less to keep on the shelf.
Why We Showcase Master Clear
Front and center — not on the back shelf
There are plenty of accessories we can sell. Master Clear is one we want to demonstrate. It was built around the specific reasons saltwater systems earned a mixed reputation in the first place, not as a box to check. MasterSpas waited until it had a system worth putting its name on.
Master Clear is available on Legend Series, Twilight (excluding TS 240X), Clarity and LH Spas. Ask us whether it’s a fit for the model you’re considering.
